Women in Construction Action Network (WiCAN)

The Women in Construction Action Network (WiCAN) is supported by the Women & Work: sector Pathways Initiative funded by ConstructionSkills. While over two million people in the UK work in the construction industry, less than 200,000 - or between 10-13% are women working in the industry. The Women & Work: Sectors Pathways Initiative, aims to raise recruitment levels in sectors where women are under represented, increase their earning potential and aid their career progression. The initiative is in response to recommendations by the Women & Work Commission’s report ‘Shaping a Fairer Future’ and received government funding, matched by employer contributions. The programme includes access to the bespoke WiCAN website offered by CCI, which includes news, face-to-face workshops and FREE online CPD certified training for women as well as access and use of Messageboard and chat room facilities.
